Styrenic suppliers Ineos Styrolution and Bischof + Klein (B+K) are Europe’s leading full-service suppliers of flexible plastics and laminated packaging and technical films. Stretch hood packaging system, Germany. The packaging material used in this application is based on Styroflex, a styrene-butadiene block copolymer (SBC) produced by Ineos Styrolution. LLDPE resin is usually used to stretch cover film.

B+K stretch hood film is used in the Luran Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA) resin facility, which produces approximately 35,000 tons of materials per year, used to organize 25 kg bags on wooden pallets. For example, ASA is used in automotive interior and exterior applications. Due to its UV resistance, it is also the material of choice for outdoor applications, including wind turbines and garden equipment.

Ineos Styrolution Ludwigshafen Engineering Manager Peter Lakeman commented: "It is very inspiring for us to look at our own packaging material Styroflex from the customer's point of view. It turns out that Styroflex-based film is the material for our purpose. It Very sturdy, but light and thin, so compared to other solutions, packaging waste is much less. Bischof + Klein brings a lot of expertise to provide a truly complete solution."

Frank Heermann, Product Development Industrial Packaging Manager at Bischof + Klein, added: “We are very happy to cooperate with Ineos Styrolution in Ludwigshafen. Interestingly, the company is using its own products. Styroflex-based films increase packaging machine users Flexibility. In general, it allows us to better meet customer requirements."

Styroflex is a styrene-butadiene block copolymer with the characteristics of a thermoplastic elastomer (S-TPE). In film applications, Styroflex provides excellent stretch recovery and excellent transparency and puncture resistance. Styroflex PG77 is tailor-made for packaging applications such as stretch hood solutions. It combines maximum transparency, excellent elongation and extremely high toughness. Styroflex PG77 can be stretched to 200%, and has a huge recovery capacity: it will spring back to its original shape, close to the load and firmly fixed.
